You go into work every day, but frankly, you don’t always quite have the heart for it like you did when you first started.

You wish it was easier to keep that fire burning.

It’s difficult to keep that passion alive with all the obstacles and burdens you face on a daily basis.

There must be a better way

Dr. Rivers has written a book, full of inspiration and uplifting quotes, for you to use as a daily jolt of motivation to journey through those valleys, and lead your followers into the light.

Strength for the Journey: Words to Restore the Soul is the present day “post-it notes” for all levels of leadership. Leadership, done the right way, requires the leader to dig deep to stay focused on purpose, to stay renewed in the never-ending journey, and to stay in love with people. “Listen with your heart to hear the soft tone of amazing grace”, one of the “Truth” quotes, puts perspective to the essence of leadership and a beacon of light to this amazing author and friend. This book should be a part of every leader’s wardrobe, as it keeps us dressed for long-term leadership success. It’s about time, you finally wrote it! I absolutely loved it!!

Once I realized that I always had a choice, my life changed as I realized the level of freedom that I actually had at my disposal. My energy shifted to focusing on the consequences of my choices. In some cases, it meant discerning the lesser of the evils but nevertheless, I had the right and responsibility to consciously choose. I realized that the virtues of courage and faith were required. Through the help of mentors, I began to discern when fear was limiting my choices. This new found freedom opened my heart to explore and develop in the leadership competency of creativity and risk-taking. Dr. Rose

I highly recommend this book to anyone in a leadership position, especially nursing leadership. The content has profound meaning, with advice and words to live by which help you to focus on the joy of leadership and develop your leadership skills. This is a book you will read over and over again and find inspiring, joyful, and pertinent guidance which will help you with the challenges of leadership each time you read it.

In these pages, Rose reveals her passions and beliefs through her message. It is part of her strong foundation. It is what she believes. It is what she has learned. Turning lessons learned into words is Rose’s strength. These antidotes give just a glimpse to the depth of Rose Rivers’ spirit and person.

There is a plethora of literature on leadership on the market. Of the books I read, none make the connection between authentic leadership, and the necessary spiritual and character growth experience Rose Rivers makes us think about in this unique publication. The brief format, full of quotes, lends itself to use this book for daily meditations, for those of us who want to grow as leaders. I will keep this gem close at hand.

Markus Dietrich, LMHC, CEAP, CAAP

Rose describes the effect of fear in this book and more importantly how to overcome that fear. The ability to overcome fear is essential to leadership and Rose gives us a blueprint to do so; by faith, self-care, vision, forgiveness and love.

Joy is a virtue that fuels the soul. I have learned that I am responsible and accountable for my own morale. Once I took ownership of my morale, my attitude changed with this newfound freedom. I realized that I did not need to wait for others to feel good or be grateful, I could choose my attitude at my discretion. I learned that inner joy could be sustained regardless of circumstance. Joy is not necessarily the absence of sadness. Joy and sadness can co-exist but the key was for me to allow Joy to cushion me through times of sadness thus avoiding despair. Joy to me is an antidote, like laughter, Joy is good medicine! Dr. Rose

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did writing it!

To your joy, Dr. Rose
